Vauxhall Adam Car Keys Replaced – Southsea PO5 nr Albert Road

Local auto-locksmith call out to PO5 near Albert Road, Portsmouth, for new car keys to replace an existing Vauxhall key. A lady with a Vauxhall Adam had one key fob, which was on it’s last legs and falling apart.

The Vauxhall Adam of this era, uses the same key as the Astra J key, but doesn’t have the boot release capability. These car keys can be programmed quickly, providing the car doesn’t have fault codes stored. Therefore, before programming keys into these cars, fault codes stored in the car need to be cleared.

Autel was used to scan the vehicle and clear any fault codes present.

At this point, it is important to have a good battery voltage, above 12v.

Programming New Vauxhall Adam Car Keys

Next, the immobiliser pin code was read from the vehicle, using the existing and working ignition key to authorise this transaction.

Following this, the immobiliser is configured to accept a new key using the pin code as authority. This takes approximately 12 minutes. It’s important during this process, that all doors on the car are closed and not opened during the process. Doing so can render the car immobilised with no working keys. This is a security feature on Vauxhall cars of this era which must be respected.

Following this, newly cut and genuine key fobs were programmed into the Vauxhall Adam.

The car was started and run for a few minutes. Out of curiosity, I carried out a 2nd diagnostic scan of the vehicle to scan for fault codes. The car was clean of faults.

Both new Vauxhall keys started the car, and operated the central locking.

The door lock was a little stiff and dry, so I lubricated the lock so that it was working freely. Although central locking operated from a car key remote is a quick way to gain access, it’s important to regularly use the door lock.
